Happy Easter!!

Even though it is almost over, HAPPY EASTER!!  Hopefully, everyone has had a wonderful Easter Sunday!!  I will take you through our day:)

The Easter Bunny came:)
I guess Stuart and I were good since the Easter Bunny decided to make a stop at our house.  This year included candy, shorts, a bow tie, trail mix, a Vera Bradley bag and a massage certificate... so I thought...  Next we went to church in Phenix City and went to the Browns' afterwards for lunch and a good ole fashioned Easter egg hunt.

Our first Easter as the Browns:)

Next, we went inside and shared Easter gifts, or once again... so I thought.  I got a birthday present early from Stuart, his parents and my parents!!
A new Nikon D3100 SLR with 2 lenses!!

I have soooo much to learn about this new toy!!  I am so excited to use it though!!  I had a ton of fun just shooting pictures all day, using different settings and actually see how bad a photographer I am.  I am going to post a few pics just for me to compare to later, when I become a picture perfect photographer!!  BTW--if anyone has ANY tips, feel free to send them my way!!

A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO THIS GUY RIGHT HERE!!  THANK YOU STUART FOR COORDINATING WITH THE CAMERA FAIRY TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!
I Love You:)
Happy Easter to all and to all a goodnight:)

A Tornado of a Weekend...

We had a great, fun and fast weekend in Mississippi!  It was a quick trip for my cousin's wedding, but a great excuse to see family, especially SUSAN and JOSIAH!!  My parents picked them up in Chattanooga on Thursday, while my brother and sister-in-law got a vacation, so we got play all weekend!!  We got to Brandon, despite driving through floods and tornadoes, literally, just in time to see family before wedding festivities began.  Uncle Stuart got to play "daddy" while the girls went to a tea Saturday morning.  Everyone was fed, somewhat clean and toileted to satisfaction.  We then headed back to the hotel to get rests and baths for the big event!  The wedding was beautiful and we wish Lauren and Whit many happy years of marriage:)  On Sunday, we loaded everything back up (not a simple task) and enjoyed one last family feast before we all went our separate ways.

While it was a short trip, it was great seeing everyone!!  Here are a few pictures to share from the weekend!!

I must admit, I am super jealous that my mom gets to spend ALL WEEK with the kids and I don't, but I guess that just means that they will have to come spend a week with Aunt Sara and Uncle Stu soon!!

Green Thumb

Green thumb?  Not so much.  S and I have managed to kill a variety of hanging plants, all in a matter of months.  But for some reason, yesterday I felt the need to become "horticultur-ish" and try my hand at growing some things.  I started by researching a plant that can tolerate decent amounts of sunlight, seeing that for the majority of the day our front porch is in the sun.  After some deliberation, I chose to go with a petunia, that happens to be bright pink.  I really wanted a plant that blooms for more than 1 week, which has been the track record for my previous greens.  The tag claims that it will bloom from spring to fall, so we can cross our fingers that I can enjoy those beautiful pink flowers until the fall!!  I also wanted to branch way out of the box and try my hand a some herbs.  I did cheat a little by buying some that were already grown a little (and they were Bonnie's, Matt)!!  If nothing else, they will definitely provide a splash of color on our bland back porch, seeing that I planted them in a bright and cheery yellow pot.  I started out with some mint, rosemary and cilantro, which are all herbs that I will use in the kitchen.  So... here's to my green thumb (that is crossed by the way, to hopefully achieve success)!!
The new herb garden:)

My "pretty in pink" petunia!!

PS... Without providing too many details, please continue to keep a situation that I discussed here in your prayers.  Just when we get two steps forward, we step right back.  It does provide hope that I know that there are people in the world who won't give up and are still  helping us fight for what's right.  It just doesn't seem to impact those who chose to work against us:(  Just know that any prayer you send up, it gets put to good use.

Cock-A-Doodle TWO!!

Today I hit the highway and headed to Alex City to celebrate the birthday of one of the cutest 2 year olds I know!!  Happy 2nd Birthday, Maddie!!  Stuart didn't get to go since he had to work, but I had a great time seeing friends and watching Maddie take it all in!  There is truly nothing like seeing the world through a child's eyes and you could tell as she lit up with expression that the world was a great place today!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Beach Bums

Last weekend we loaded up and hit the beach with some friends. It was a quick, but fun trip and just teased me for a vacation!! Good friends, good food and tons of sun filled up our weekend! Here are a few pictures from our trip:)

While most of us left the beach with some sun and good memories, Stuart left the beach with a new black toe ring... aka: a jacked up toe!!  He was attempting to be an all-star playing volleyball and kicked a human in the process of trying to keep the ball in bounds:)  Don't worry, I would have more sympathy if it actually had been broken (we did get it checked out), but the DR. simply said it probably just ripped his ligaments off his precious little finger toe.  Meanwhile, as it heals, we get to experience every color on the spectrum!!  Oh.... and don't let the picture fool you... it kind of dangles a little a lot while it's healing!!!

I guess since I'm old and don't get a spring break anymore, I will have to settle for a spring weekend!!  Don't worry beach, I'll be back!!
