Oh Christmas Tree!!

Since we have had such a hectic weekend schedule, we decided to put up our Christmas tree up a couple of weekends ago.  At first, I thought that I would get sick of it before December even arrived, but much to my surprise, I am still enjoying it, just like the first day we pulled it out of the box (yes, it is artificial).  Pretty much my whole life, I have always enjoyed an artificial tree due to allergies, messiness, pets, etc. and quite simply, I feel that it is easier.  We pulled it out, plugged it up and were ready to decorate!

I guess it is a sign that I am getting older, but I see more symbolism in the tree these days.  I find it more inspiring to look at our ornaments and think of the story behind them.  Since it is our first year together, we do not have an over abundance of ornaments, but I still think our tree is beautiful.  Some our ornaments are from my childhood days, some from Stuart's, some just plain "filler" balls, and some we have added to our collection since we have been together!  Here are a few of my favorites:

This is an ornament that looks EXACTLY like my engagement ring!  Stuart's mom gave this to me last Christmas and I absolutely love it!  It is the perfect reminder of one of my favorite days in my life!!

This is an ornament that I made as a child.  I have no idea when, nor do I know why I love it so much.  It is so simple, yet I have always loved this ornament and was always the first one that I ever put on the tree.
This is just one of many ornaments that we have on our tree that were made by Stuart's Grandma Miller.  I never got to meet her, but judging by the stories that I have heard, she was a special lady.  I love having these ornaments on the tree to have a piece of her here to celebrate Christmas with us!

And here is the whole thing.  While it may not be the perfect tree, it is our tree and it is filled with many memories and stories all shared by each ornament.  I look forward to adding many, many more memories to our tree each year!
